Thinking about traveling outside the Philippines? There are several countries that allow Filipino tourists to visit for a specific number of days without a visa. Myanmar being the latest country that was added to the list. My friends and I looked at the list and we all had the same reaction “Ano naman ang madadalaw dyan sa lugar na yan?” So, I decided to do some research and share with you some notable places you can go and visit when you go to these countries:

ASEAN Countries

Brunei Darussalam: 14 days

  • Currency Exchange Rate: 1 Brunei Dollar = 35.44 Philippine Peso
  • Places to visit: Photographers may like to visit the mosques and palaces for their architectural beauty, just make sure that you ask if it’s okay to take pictures though. Kampong Ayer is also a notable place to visit for photographs and to also understand the culture of the people living there. Take a trip at the night market and try the local cuisine found in the food stalls. Finally, if you’re a nature lover, you’ll enjoy the river cruise and if you’re lucky, you get to see the local wildlife taking their break at the river’s edge.

Cambodia: 21 days

  • Currency exchange rate: 1 Cambodian Riel = 0.01 Philippine Peso
  • Places to visit: Angkor Wat (’nuff said), the plethora of temples and ruins make for a photographer’s dream. Siem Reap is also a wonderful place that has a mix of ancient and modern and Pub Street is where you go to have a drink and have a feel of the night life. They also have a night market that is a place to purchase cheap paintings, scarves or pasalubongs.

  • Republic of China (Taiwan): 30 days if holding a valid visa for Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Schengen countries, United Kingdom or United States
  • Georgia: 90 days visa issued on arrival for US$10 ~ US$200
  • Hong Kong: 14 days

  • Israel: 90 days
  • South Korea (Jeju Island only): 30 days

  • Comoros: A free 24 hour transit visa issued upon arrival at the airport. Within 24 hours this must be converted into a full visa at the immigration office in Moroni (fee payable)
  • Djibouti: 10 days visa issued upon arrival for DJF3,000; 30 days visa issued upon arrival for DJF5,000
  • Gambia: At port of entry passport 24-72 hour transit pass is issued. This must be converted into a full visa valid up to 1 month at the immigration department in Banjul (fee payable)
  • Kenya: 90 days visa issued upon arrival for US$50
  • Madagascar: 90 days visa issued upon arrival for MGA140,000
